Nothing good in life comes from the monotony and routine of your comfort zone. Nothing will change if you keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result each time.
It doesn’t matter if it’s love, money, career, health or anything else. All these things require you to be a little uncomfortable. Like love, you have to be vulnerable in taking the risk of letting your heart be broken. If you don’t truly risk with your whole heart, you can never experience true love. Money, for example, you have to be willing to take some chances in order to enter a new income bracket.
The most successful people in any area of life are comfortable with being uncomfortable from time to time. And the kicker is, if you do not learn how to develop this skill, many times people fall into a rut of depression, doubt and even anger because they know they want change , but the self doubt sets in and they beat themselves up for not getting where they want to be in life.
The lesson in this chapter is all about stepping out.
People remain stuck for years because they fear change and the unknown. Thats why people stay stuck for so long because even though they might not like their current situation, at least they’re used to it and know what to expect. But the unknown, now thats some scary stuff to a lot of people.
If you are not asserting yourself with affirmations, it can lead down a path far too many people are familiar with. Unfortunately this fear often times can lead to depression and anxiety. People seek approval from others and end up living bitter, defensive and unfulfilled lives.
Get out of the box. Break the shackles of your comfort zone. An easy way to do this is to face a fear. Say hi to someone you think is nice, pitch an idea to your boss or investor; and if they don’t say hi back or don’t react to your idea realise that its not a big deal except what you make of it.
Be the change you want to see in the world and you’ll soon discover that you became the light and the beacon of hope other people look up to, even if they started out as critics.
